SINGAPORE: The new integrated transport hub at Bedok will open in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) says the 1.6 hectare air-conditioned bus interchange will connect commuters to the Bedok MRT Station and Bedok Mall.
There will also be 400 square metres of commercial space in the bus interchange.
LTA says the new interchange is expected to benefit about 40,000 commuters daily.
It is the first integrated transport hub to achieve the Building and Construction Authority's Green Mark Platinum Award.
The concourse area of the bus interchange will have energy efficient lighting, while the driveway and bus park area will be lit with LED light.
There will also be a water-cooled air-conditioning system which is more energy efficient.
The Bedok integrated bus hub is the seventh bus interchange that is seamlessly linked to an MRT station and adjoining commercial developments.
LTA says three more integrated bus hubs are under construction at Joo Koon, Bukit Panjang and Yishun.
The Joo Koon and Bukit Panjang integrated bus hubs are scheduled to be ready in 2015, while the Yishun bus hub is slated for completion in 2018.
The six existing integrated bus hubs are located at Toa Payoh, Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay, Serangoon and Clementi
