The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has sold a residential site in Woodlands Avenue 5 as part of Government Land Sales (GLS) in 2nd quarter of 2013. Firms are expected to provide jobs in the north that complement labour-intensive industries across the Causeway. With the intense development of Iskandar just across the border, more jobs are expected to be created within the northern part of Singapore.

THE NORTHERN GATEWAY TO MALAYSIA.
The new coming intergrated CIQ complex will be located North of Woodlands MRT Station with the Northern terminus of the Thomson MRT Line. Together with JB Sentral, they will act as the link of Rapid Transit System (RTS), adding better connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore.
The future rail network within Iskandar links all the new development zones.
Turning Woodlands into a Regional Centre, with the development of Thomson Line, North-South Expressway and more industrial clusters will therefore, increase the supply and demand of houses here.
Under Draft Master Plan 2013, the Government will be creating 100,000 jobs in Woodlands Regional Centre.
