The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be calling several tenders for the construction of the 21.5km North-South Corridor (NSC) in the coming months.
With the aim of connecting towns in the northern region to the city centre, the NSC is touted as Singapore’s first integrated transport corridor, featuring continuous bus lanes and cycling trunk routes, said the LTA.

A new Sungei Seletar bus depot will be built to accommodate the growing bus fleet in Singapore, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement on 30 January.
Located off Yio Chu Kang Road beside the Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Sungei Seletar Simpang Kiri river, the depot will accommodate about 500 buses.

Singapore is set to see more dramatic changes in its rail landscape with new developments in the pipeline. SINGAPORE - Works on the elevated Canberra MRT station will start in the middle of next year and are expected to complete in 2019, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement today.
The new addition to the North-South Line is located along Canberra Link, between Sembawang and Yishun stations. It will be the second MRT station to be built on an existing rail line in Singapore.
SINGAPORE: The new integrated transport hub at Bedok will open in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) says the 1.6 hectare air-conditioned bus interchange will connect commuters to the Bedok MRT Station and Bedok Mall.

SINGAPORE: The country's sixth rail line - the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) - will be fully operational by 2024, the Land Transport Authority announced on Friday (Aug 15).
The previously-announced Eastern Region Line and the Thomson Line will be joined to form the single, continuous line, which will span about 43 kilometres with a total of 31 stations, seven of which will be interchanges.
SINGAPORE - Commuters in the east will soon have more MRT links to the city and the northern parts of Singapore with the new Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).
The eastern stretch of the TEL will have nine stations running from Sungei Bedok to Tanjong Rhu. The line will then connect northwards to 22 other stations. The stations along the northern stretch were announced earlier under the Thomson Line.

A new semi-expressway could be built in Punggol, to link the estate to other towns in the north and east, including Seletar and Pasir Ris.
The proposed road will serve the northern part of Punggol, which will be home to several housing districts, education institutions and commercial activities once it is fully developed.
In its Draft Masterplan 2013, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said the semi-expressway will "increase east- west connectivity".
Development of the 18 ha of land may begin after 2016
Located at the convergence of two major waterways - Rochor Canal and Kallang River - the area has also been identified as a pilot area for a high-density, water-sustainable precinct. This means developments there will incorporate effective stormwater management and urban design features such as vegetated swales, bio-retention basins and detention ponds to manage rainwater runoff.
Development of the 18 hectares of land in Kampong Bugis may begin after 2016. Of this area, about 80 per cent will be given over to about 4,000 units of private housing.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) yesterday said it will call a tender in the first quarter of next year for the assessment, which will help it decide if this MRT line should pass through the Central Catchment Nature Reserve or skirt around it.
Apart from investigating the impact of possible alignments, the consultant will also have to suggest how to reduce any possible negative impact and come up with guidelines on suitable ways to carry out works such as soil investigation in the reserve.
