In a joint announcement on Wednesday, the Land Transport Authority and Singapore Land Authority said a parcel of land at PSA Corp's Keppel Terminal will be acquired to facilitate construction for the extension of the train line.
To improve the direct east-west connectivity between the central east and central west areas, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will build an extension to the existing Circle Line. Named Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6), the 4km line will 'close the circle' by connecting HarbourFront station to Marina Bay station.
Come 2025, commuters will enjoy a direct route between key employment areas in the Central Business District, upcoming developments in the Marina Bay area, and retail and office centres in the HarbourFront area via the CCL6.
LTA is in the process of conducting the architectural and engineering studies and will announce the alignment of the line when it has been finalised.
Land Acquisition
To facilitate the works, the Government will need to acquire a part of the land at PSA Corporation’s Keppel Terminal. The affected facilities include a one-storey port facility and part of the internal circulation road. The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has gazetted the land affected by the acquisition today.
