The Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN), a research body under A*Star, has teamed up with a Japanese medical technology company to set up a research centre here.
Arkray will invest $9.1 million in the centre over a five-year period and leverage on IBN's expertise to develop novel detection kits for infectious diseases.
The funds it is injecting into this tie-up will cover manpower, research consumables, equipment costs as well as other research collaboration. The research centre, located in IBN's premises in Biopolis, Singapore's research and development hub for biomedical sciences, will hire 21 employees.
