Woodlands Regional Centre (WRC) is, under the Land Use Plan, as part of Singapore's decentralisation strategy, to spread the population out and bring jobs closer to home guarding  against congestion and over-development in the Central Business District and Marina Bay areas. There will be more future developments for Woodlands Regional Centre.

      WOODLANDS NORTH COAST

    woodlands home map

With 100 hectares of land for development, bigger than the Gardens by the Bay at 60ha, WRC is to stretch from the north coast fronting the Strait of Johor to the centre of Woodlands. It will have two distinct precincts, with the first being the Woodlands North Coast which covers an area of 70 hectares between Republic Polytechnic and Woodlands Waterfront slated to be developed into a lush waterfront environment with a mix of residential, commercial and lifestyle uses.

The other precinct would be Woodlands Central where a 30 hectares area around Woodlands MRT Station and Causeway Point mall. It is planned to be a commercial centre and a pedestrian-friendly retail hub. With these and 700,000 sqm of commercial space planned, it is comparable to other regional hubs like Tampines Regional Centre and Jurong Lake District.

More Commercial Areas in Woodlands, besides Primz Biz Hub, Woodlands Horizon, along Woodlands Avenue 5, Avenue 6 and at Gambas to be developed under Master Plan 2013

Woodlands Regional Central Draft Master Plan 2013

Turning Woodlands into a Regional Centre, with the development of Thomson Line, North-South Expressway and more industrial clusters will therefore, increase the supply and demand of houses here.

Under Master Plan 2014, the Government will be creating 100,000 jobs in Woodlands Regional Centre.
